Fabricated containers are cut and folded from sheet material, usually an extruded thermoplastic sheet, which has a very high strength to weight ratio. It is resistant to abrasion and moisture-absorption ...and comes in many colours. The containers, incorporating steel reinforcing wires for extra strength and rigidity, are assembled with rivets (see below), and handles, cardholders or other features are added.
Tooling costs for injection moulding or rotational moulded plastic containers can run into five figures, a major deterrent to companies needing only a relatively small quantity of specials. Fabrication, lacking such costs - and with quick lead times - is the ideal solution in such circumstances.
Fabrication allows the manufacture of large or small capacity containers that would be prohibitively expensive by any other production process.
