Finally, the cold weather is coming to an end as this winter gradually draws to a close and makes way for spring. But it was not long ago that many parts of the UK were frozen solid under masses of snow and ice.
Indeed, a considerable number of schools and business had to shut during the worst spells of bad weather, as transport routes became impassable. At one stage, a number of motorists on the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow had to spend a night in their cars after traffic came to a complete stop on the treacherous surface.
And of course buildings up and down the land sustained damage. One of the main problems was falling guttering. Sections of the material tumbled down from homes under the sheer weight of the ice that filled them.
At first, it was impossible to order in cast iron guttering and other such products to replace it because the conditions remained too treacherous to deal with the situation. And even when the worst of the weather had subsided, many consumers decided to wait until they could be certain the ice would not come back to cause the same problems.
If you are one of these people, now could be the ideal time to order in your replacement guttering, as well as any corrugated roofing sheets and other provisions you need, such as PVC sheets. After all, it is now highly unlikely that there will be repeats of the terrible weather, at least until the next cold season.
