Obviously the decision to redecorate is always one that needs to take into account as many factors as possible. If you have decided to use wall cladding or fascias, for instance, you will need to check the availability and cost of these panels. You will also require as wide a range as possible of colours and designs in order to coordinate them with your existing décor. At Bliby Plastics, we are certain that we have a choice of plastic fascias and wall cladding that will be ideal for your purposes.

If you are installing panelling in the bathroom or kitchen, for example, it will be better than tiles. Walls need more preparatory work if tiles are to be fixed to them, this preparation adds to the eventual cost. Panels are simpler to fit which means that anybody with a certain amount of DIY knowledge will have no problems with their installation. Panels will fit together to create a completely water proof join. This is especially important when are going to be used in a room where moisture abounds such as the kitchen or the bathroom.

Should you have decided to install panels to the ceiling of a room and wish to fit lights, it is advisable to cut holes in the panels with a hole saw after they have been attached. Afterwards you can then fix lights in the usual way. Do not use lights any stronger than 60w or you may be in danger of melting the surrounding panelling.

Now, more than ever, conservation of energy is essential if you are going to keep the domestic fuel bills at a manageable level. One way of doing this is to make sure your home is well insulated. Cavity wall insulation is well worth the initial investment. Boards in the loft along with insulation such as wall cladding are a great help and the wall cladding is available at companies such as ours, Bliby Plastic, where we will supply the materials you need and answer any question you may have.

However, another way of holding in the heat is to install fascias on the outside of your house. An option worthy of consideration is fitting plastic fascias. Typically they will be available in a variety of colours so that you can choose the colour that will suit your home. The advantage of using plastic fascias is that they will not need to be repainted every few years; they can just be washed down.

Some houses will have existing fascias with connections for the telephone and mains electricity already incorporated. These will need to be relocated onto your new fascia and this should only be done by the service provider. Guttering must also be taken down before replacing the fascia. It is advisable that scaffolding is used to carry out this replacement since you will be working at height and a ladder is going to be inadequate as well as unsafe. So make sure you have the right equipment to keep yourself safe.

Frequently asked questions about plastic fascias, wall cladding and fascias in general are varied. At Bliby Plastics we hope we have the answers to all your questions. Some of the questions can also be quite interesting, especially the ones about improvements being made in the bathroom.

For example, whether or not it is possible to install fascias over tiles that are already there. As long as the existing tiles have been firmly fixed to the wall this should be perfectly feasible. It is best, however, to ensure that the panelling’s extra thickness does not impede the use of fixtures already in the bathroom, bath taps, for instance, or doors.

In some cases older bathrooms’ walls are half tiled. The tiles themselves are difficult to remove; therefore it is easier to batten out the top half of the bathroom level. The panels can then be installed by sticking them to the tiles and stapling the top half of them to the battens.

There are also special procedures to be followed when installing panels with toilets or basins that are wall hung. You should drill through the panelling, into the wall as you normally would. Insert the wall plugs and ensure they have gone completely through the panels and into the wall. It may be necessary to use longer screws allowing for the panels’ thickness. Do not over tighten the screws because you may crush the panelling. It is also possible to attach panels to the bathroom ceiling using adhesive and a staple gun. We can supply plastics and fascias as required.

It is said that one of the most stressful events in your life is moving house. This is quite easy to understand when you consider the sheer volume of work required. Making sure the domestic fuel suppliers know, council tax, water, television, telephone, household insurance and a variety of other tasks to be dealt with as well as the removal company, packing and throwing out things you did not know you had.

But once you are safely ensconced in your new home and the dust has settled, it is time to take stock. If, for example, a loft conversion has been carried out, you may want to consider the possibility of improving or at any rate changing it to suit your own particular needs.

The use of wall cladding or fascias would be one, relatively, quick way of achieving the required alterations. At Bliby Plastics you will find that we will be able to supply you with a great range of these items in various colours. Fascias are durable and easily cleaned. This can be a terrific bonus if your loft room has been turned into a play room. You might even consider the possible advantage of making one wall plain white and letting your off-spring display their creativity.

Making the loft into a guest room could be enhanced by making it en-suite as well. A sink and toilet could be plumbed in and the addition of a shower cubicle would be perfect. However, you will need to install an extractor fan. We can supply any kinds of fascias or plastic sheets you may need.

Whether it is plastic guttering, fascias or wall cladding, the chances are it will have been made from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). A vinyl polymer built from ethenyls with one hydrogen replaced by a chloride group, PVC is used in construction by a good many people because it is inexpensive, hard wearing and simple to make. It has replaced metal as the material to use when making sewerage pipes, for example, since it is impossible for corrosion to occur.

At Bliby Plastics, we supply plastic fascias, soffit, guttering and cladding to the public and to trade. We also have architrave and underground drainage products. PVC is made a lot softer and easier to manipulate when plasticisers are added to it. This process makes it ideal for the manufacturing of a wide range of diverse products, toys, sports equipment, clothing, and PVC cladding. As a material, it is like leather but a lot cheaper.

In the 19th century there were two, possibly more, incidents when PVC was discovered by accident. Both times it manifested itself as a white substance inside jars of vinyl chloride which were lying around and accidentally exposed to sunlight. In the early 1900s two chemists tried to make use of it as a viable commercial material. Unfortunately, it was too difficult to process the rigid polymer and their efforts were unsuccessful. However, in the mid 1920s, a company decided to try plasticising PVC by mixing it with other additives. This resulted in a flexible material that was simpler to process and became a commercial success.

In these difficult times with the financial situation in Britain causing many problems, you may not wish to consider the possibility of increasing your property value by building a conservatory or investing in a loft conversion. Simply replacing plastic guttering if it is looking the worse for wear would be of some help. Refurbishing the interior of your property with, for example, wall cladding is another way to spruce up your home.

At Bliby Plastics, we have a selection of wall cladding, fascias, guttering, including Victorian style guttering made to replicate the old-fashioned cast-iron gutters. It might be a good idea to cast a critical eye over your house before deciding on your purchase though. Some styles of house will not suit a trip back in time to the Victorian era.

Building a conservatory will require planning permission if it is over a certain size, so check with the local council first to sort out whether or not you are going to need permission. There are a good many builders who specialise in the building of conservatories. Be careful to check that the builder you are in contact with is the member of an accredited association which can monitor the firm and be contacted if you are dissatisfied with the work undertaken and not able to get any redress from the builders themselves.

Loft conversions are more expensive than conservatories especially if you decide to raise the roof as well, but you will have an extra bedroom, home office or play area for your little angels.

From plastic guttering to plastic sheets and wall cladding, plastic now plays an important role in our everyday lives. At Bliby Plastics, we supply all these items as well as fascias, plastic cladding and so forth. This versatile material has, like other materials used by humans, gone through an albeit short but nevertheless important process of evolution.

In 1862, there was an exhibition known as The Great International Exhibition to show the developments of the day, the Victorians loved to experiment with just about everything and were great inventors. The exhibition gave a man called Alexander Parkes the opportunity to demonstrate Parkesine which was derived from cellulose. Once it was heated, it could be moulded into different shapes and would retain that shape when it was cooled.

Cellulose, when mixed with camphor, formed celluloid which could be used, instead of ivory, to make billiard balls. Celluloid was invented in 1868 by John Hyatt, who also created celluloid in the form of a strip for motion pictures as well as still photography.

The next important advance in the early history of plastic was the use of formaldehyde. Towards the latter part of the last decade of the 19th century, the making of white chalkboards was attempted. These efforts brought about the development of casein plastics. Basically casein plastic was formaldehyde blended with milk protein.

In 1907, after improving a technique known as phenol-formaldehyde reaction, an inventor, Leo Baekeland invented Bakelite, which was the first completely synthetic resin that would become a commercial success. Bliby Plastics supply a great range of plastics, from plastic guttering to plastic sheets.

Plastic cladding on kitchen walls and ceilings is attractive, hygienic and very easy to clean. Since there is no grout where germs and bacteria can hide, it makes wall cladding the perfect solution for anywhere where food is being stored or meals prepared. The panels can be quickly and effectively cleaned with the appropriate cleaning materials.

A word of warning though, plastic cladding will warp and melt if installed too close to a direct source of heat such as the kitchen cooking hobs. In this case, it is wiser to install ceramic tiles in the hot areas, and then wall cladding could be used for the rest of the kitchen.

If you have ever painted a ceiling, you will realise what a boon plastic cladding could be. At Bliby Plastics, you will find a wide range of wall cladding that may also be used on the ceiling.

If you intend to use panelling throughout the room, choose a lighter colour for the ceiling and a different and darker one for the walls. The reasoning behind this choice of colour schemes is mostly psychological. A room with uniform colours on ceiling and walls can feel rather clinical.

Make sure you have measured the areas accurately before buying the panels. Remember, too much can be reduced, too little cannot be increased except by going back to the DIY store and buying more. The best way of cutting panels should this be necessary is to use a hand saw. Fine teeth will ensure a neater cut.

Preparing the walls in the bathroom then affixing tiles can be a fiddly job and very frustrating at times as well as time-consuming.

Wall cladding, on the other hand, is much simpler to work with, easier to install and cost effective into the bargain. The problem with ceramic tiles is that they are cold and condensation forms very quickly on them with the resulting growth of mould. Bathrooms and kitchens are two areas of the house that tend to have high humidity, so it makes sense to use plastic cladding in those areas since it is much less likely to attract condensation; it does not occur and thus the growth of mould is more restricted.

You will find that, at Bliby Plastics, we have a wide selection of wall cladding and fascias to suit your needs for the coordination of colours.

Bathroom plastic cladding is completely waterproof and there is no need to remove the tiles first since the panels can be fitted over them. Plastic cladding may also be used to create a new look for your shower cubicle. If you are fitting a new shower, by the way, it is recommended that you install the shower tray first. Then you may fit the panels, making sure that you run them inside the tray to ensure a completely effective seal.

When fixing wall cladding behind radiators or in the kitchen, make sure you read the manufacturers’ recommendations concerning the highest temperature to which it is safe to expose the cladding.

Plastic is often taken for granted and sometimes seen as a rather cheap alternative to wood or metal. But consider the versatility of this material which can be used for guttering, wall cladding, fascias and even clothing. Take, for instance, plastic raincoats, light and easy to carry around in a back pack in case of the all too familiar rain that we never seem to run out of in Britain during the summer.

Another great application for plastic is in DIY and in the building industry. We, at Bliby Plastics, cater for both areas. If you need pipes, plastic guttering or plastic sheets, we are able to provide you with these items at very reasonable prices and we have several outlets around the UK.

Plastic guttering is far easier to install than its metal counterpart. The guttering is lighter, can be cut to size, if needed, a lot more quickly. This lightness makes transporting it to the required location simpler due to the fact that more units can be carried in a single trip than was previously possible.

On building sites especially, other materials, brick, wood or metal can be kept dry during wet weather with the use of heavy duty plastic sheets. These are easier to use than tarpaulins and less expensive even though they do the job just as well. When a house is only partly built and, as yet, lacks a roof, plastic sheets come to the rescue again if it should happen to rain.
