Fascias, the long horizontal panels that are fixed over the point where the top of the house walls meets the bottom edge of the roof, are of course permanently exposed to the elements. Consequently, fascias – and wooden fascias in particular – can easily become worn or even rotten.
Not only are weathered-looking fascias unsightly, they also undermine the protection meant for the brickwork underneath. It has to be remembered also that any rot can sometimes spread to other wooden parts such as roofing beams.
A solution lies in replacing or overlaying the original fascias with plastic fascias. Some of these plastic fascias are designed to be fitted to good timber fascias whilst others are made with the intention of connecting to the ends of the roof rafters and completely covering up timber fascias that are worse for wear.
Other plastic fascias are designed to be fitted either as first-time fascias on new-builds, or to completely replace old timber. Again, such fascias will simply be connected to the ends of the rafters.
The main advantage of choosing plastic fascias is that you no longer have to worry about the effects of the weather, or of general atmospheric pressures; plastic is an extremely durable material and does not require painting over for protection. Plastic is also very easy to keep clean, often just requiring a simple wipe down with a wet cloth.
It should also be noted that plastic fascias are available in a variety of colours including light and dark timber effects.
At Bliby Plastics we stock a wide range of quality, value for money fascias and uPVC fascia boards.
